YEREVAN. – I have instructed to examine the reports of the criminal cases that were filed and suspended in previous years on grave crimes, and to intensify—by using modern opportunities—the conducting of investigative activities to solve them.

Hayk Grigoryan, head of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, said the abovementioned at Monday’s press conference devoted to the professional day of this committee’s workers, and summing up the results of the first 100 days of his tenure in this capacity.

In his words, numerous cases of corruption were discovered in various domains of public administration in Armenia, and the cases of misuse were widespread.

The Investigative Committee chief added that damages totaling 1,215,884,000 (approx. $2,510,130) drams were recovered within the first nine months of the current year—and along the lines of the criminal cases being investigated.

“A damage of 537 million drams [(approx. $1,108,610)] was recovered all through 2017,” Grigoryan added, in particular. “Within nine months [of the current year] (…) 1,335 people—of which 101 [are] officials—were included [in the criminal investigations] as an accused.”
