On September 21, 2009 a freight train with eight wagons was derailed as a result of pour rains in Dagestan. No victims and casualties were reported.
According to the Dagestani Ministry of Emergency Situations, the accident occurred overnight on the last railway line to Kizilyurt locality destroying 150m of track. Rostov-Baku, Tyumen-Baku and Astrakhan-Makhachkala routes were delayed.
