YEREVAN. – A court in Armenia has released Former Deputy Health Minister Vahan Poghosyan on bail.
Naira Harutyunyan, head of the Information and Public Relations Division of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, told about the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“The investigator had filed a motion with the court to select detention regarding the pretrial measure against him,” she said. “But the court has released Poghosyan on a five-million [dram; approx. US$10,240] bail.”
Vahan Poghosyan was charged under the Criminal Code articles on abuse of official powers.
The investigative Committee had informed that the preliminary investigation has determined that Poghosyan had overtly abused his official powers, from December 2011 to November 2016, while holding the post of Deputy Health Minister coordinating the HIV/AIDS prevention and medical assistance activities in Armenia.
Vahan Poghosyan on Thursday was detained on suspicion of committing the aforesaid crime.
