On 1 April, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Armenia Agemar de Mendonça Sanctos.

The National Assembly told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the parliamentary speaker, attaching importance to the existing friendly relations between the two countries, stated that improvement of the legal-contractual field would also promote further deepening and expansion of those relations.

Valuing the partnership between the legislatures of Armenia and Brazil, Mirzoyan stated that the National Assembly has already created the Armenia-Brazil Parliamentary Friendship Group which, in its turn, will serve as an impetus for enhancement of the cooperation.

The parliamentary speaker expressed gratitude to the Federal Senate of Brazil for recognition of the Armenian Genocide and highlighted the importance of cooperation to condemn and prevent genocides at the international level.

Agemar de Mendonça Sanctos assured that he wouldn’t spare any effort to promote the strengthening of the cordial ties between Armenia and Brazil and also attached importance to the steps aimed at improving the legal-contractual field. In the context of the development of bilateral ties, the ambassador valued the role of the Brazilian-Armenian community and highlighted the community’s active efforts in various sectors.

The ambassador presented the initiatives aimed at expanding Armenia-Brazil relations and cooperation and the agenda for partnership.

The parties discussed issues on the implementation of new joint programs and attached importance to the enhancement of partnership, particularly in tourism, agriculture, science and education, as well as for the promotion of investments.
