Foreign minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with State Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcos Tekle Rike on April 3 during his official visit to Adis-Ababa.

Minister Mnatsakanyan highlighted the importance of his official visit to Ethiopia, stressing that deepening of relations with the countries of the African continent and taking practical steps to strengthen Armenia's presence in the region are one of the priorities of the government. 

Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Marcos Tekle noted with satisfaction that the historically formed relations between Armenia and Ethiopia and centuries-old ties create a solid foundation for the deepening and expansion of bilateral multifaceted cooperation at the present stage. In this context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia emphasized the historic role of the Armenian community in the modernization of Ethiopia.

The FMs Armenia and Ethiopia emphasized the bilateral readiness to take joint practical steps in the direction of effective use of the existing potential for activization of political dialogue and active cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Both sides highly assessed the effective cooperation established in the international structures, highlighted the importance of holding sectoral consultations and expanding the legal framework.

The Armenian Foreign Minister briefed on the reforms being carried out by the government of the country, noting that the priority is in the areas of IT, education, innovation, and these areas can become leaders in developing cooperation with Ethiopia.

An exchange of views on international and regional issues took place. The Minister presented to his colleague the process of settlement of the Karabakh conflict, the approaches of the Armenian side.

At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation.
