Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received Stephen Nix, Eurasia regional director at the International Republican Institute on Wednesday.

According to the press service of the National Assembly, the head of the legislative body noted the importance of the activities of this structure and highly appreciated its role in promoting democratic processes.  He expressed readiness for further cooperation with the organization, stressing the need for a new format of program implementation. Mirzoyan presented the reform policy adopted after the last national elections, the specifics of the functions of the legislative body after the transition to a parliamentary system of government.

Congratulating Mirzoyan on his election as speaker and holding free, fair and transparent elections, Stephen Nix noted that the institute is ready to contribute to the deepening of democratic processes in the country and the development of the capabilities of the National Assembly and the implementation of programs aimed at strengthening parliament-society relations.
