YEREVAN. – The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia (RA), Rustam Badasyan, on Friday touched upon the concerns over the Istanbul Convention, which has recently been widely discussed in the country.

“Considering the concerns that are raised regarding the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence [also known as the Istanbul Convention], today we have petitioned to the Venice Commission to receive the Commission’s official opinion on the impact of the Convention’s ratification, from the viewpoint of the RA Constitution,” the minister noted in a Facebook post. “Once receiving the Commission’s opinion, the Ministry of Justice will publicize it.”
