Turkish businessman and benefactor Osman Kavala will stay in prison, in spite of the European Court’s decision on his immediate release.

In November 2017, Kavala was arrested after being charged with organizing anti-government protests in 2013.

Earlier, the European Court of Human Rights had declared that there was no evidence that the businessman had committed a crime and had called on Turkey to release the businessman.

However, the Turkish court has ruled that Kavala will stay in prison so long as the Turkish Ministry of Justice hasn’t confirmed the European Court’s decision, reports Anadolu. The procedure has been postponed until January 28, 2020.
