China abandons an extra-judicial system of forced labor which was used as punishment for prostitution.
The system allowed police to keep sex workers and their clients at the so-called “educational centers” for up to two years.
The detainees were allegedly making toys or household goods, BBC reported.
Prostitution is banned in China, and the punishment is of up to 15 days in detention and a fine of over $714.
