Armenia’s authorities shouldn’t wait for responses from international organizations to be concerned about the possible consequences. This is what deputy of the Bright Armenia Party Taron Simonyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am as he commented on the situation regarding the Constitutional Court.

He stated that the parliamentary opposition’s concerns about the actions or events linked to the authorities should give the government something to think about.

Simonyan stated that the incumbent authorities’ policy is, in essence, a violation of the principle of separation of powers which, according to him, is inacceptable for a legal state.

In addition, according to the deputy, the stance of the government and the My Step Alliance against the members of the Constitutional Court and particularly its president Hrayr Tovmasyan is a crude violation of the principle of presumption of innocence and will lead to consequences.

Simonyan added that, from the political perspective, the incumbent authorities and the ruling alliance want to reinforce their positions in all branches of power which he believes may lead to painful consequences.

“Absolute power is an absolute evil for any society,” the MP emphasized.
