Other Republican presidential candidates - former Illinois Congressman William Joe Walsh and former Massachusetts Governor William Floyd Weld - had just over 1% of the vote each. Over 32 thousand people took part in the vote.

Trump's victory in Iowa was expected, as he is the undisputed leader in the fight for the Republican Party's presidential candidate.

The tradition of holding the country's first gatherings of party activists originated in Iowa in 1972, and since then this state has begun to play the role of a political barometer at the beginning of each election cycle. One of the most important stages of the campaign will be on March 3 - the election of delegates to national congresses will be held in 17 states.

The process of nominating delegates will end on June 16 with primary elections in the metropolitan area of Columbia.

A total of 1276 out of 2441 participants are required to be delegated based on the results of activist meetings and primary elections for a Republican candidate to be nominated at a congress to be held from August 24 to 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

And at least 1990 out of 3979 delegates are required to be a candidate in the first round of voting at the National Congress of the Democratic Party, which will be held July 13-16 in Milwaukee (Wisconsin).
