YEREVAN. – Prosperous Armenia party MP Naira Zohrabyan the situation with the Constitutional Court is not the key issue that has to be discussed now in Armenia where numerous problems exist.

“I am a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, too, and I have not given anyone a mandate to settle the issue of the Constitutional Court,” she told reporters on Tuesday.

Moreover, Zohrabyan claimed that none of political parties has a right to speak on behalf of all people.

“We do not have a problem with any individual, and we will do everything to establish rule of law,” she added.

Earlier head of ruling My Step parliamentary group said the Armenian citizens authorized them to tackle the problem of the Constitutional Court.

Armenian parliament speaker Ararat Mirzoyan decidedto convene an extraordinary sitting of the National Assembly on February 6. The agenda of the extraordinary meeting included legislative initiative of the deputy of the “My Step” faction Vahagn Hovakimyan, which is aimed at neutralizing the participation of the Constitutional Court in constitutional reforms. President of the National Assembly decided to discuss the draft law submitted for urgent consideration simultaneously in the first and second readings, while he was not entitled to do so.

However, the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly suggest that in order to debate the bill simultaneously in the first and second reading, a reasoned written proposal of deputies or fractions is needed, and has to be approved at a meeting of the Council of Parliament, which was not done. Mirzoyan canceled his own decision after the scandal broke out.
