US President Donald Trump on Tuesday expressed confidence that the American authorities will be able to put an end to the AIDS epidemic in the country by the end of the decade.

“And because Congress was so good as to fund my request, new cures for childhood cancer, and we will eradicate the AIDS epidemic in America by the end of this decade,” he said in his State of the Union address.

Trump noted the Washington administration had launched new ambitious initiatives aimed at improving the medical care of Americans with kidney disease, Alzheimer's disease and those struggling with mental health problems, as well as looking for new drugs for children’s treatment cancer.

Trump announced the launch of an initiative aimed at halting the spread of HIV and childhood cancer in the country by 2030 during his previous address to Congress. Healthcare professionals will work in 20 states in the country for the first five years, where HIV infections are mostly reported. Then, specialists will deal with the spread of infections in other states.
