YEREVAN. - A Yerevan court of first instance has suspended the lawsuit filed by Armenia's second President Robert Kocharyan against businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan. Kocharyan's lawyer Aram Orbelyan told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

"The grounds are that the Code of Civil Procedure says that proceedings are suspended if there is another criminal, civil or administrative case without the examination of which it is impossible to examine this case," Orbelyan said.

The lawsuit was filed by Aram Orbelyan, seeking to refute the slander and to pay 2mn drams in compensation.

The grounds for this lawsuit was the following statement made by Silva Hambardzumyan in 2018: "I made a big deal with the Arabs in 2008, and paid both the president of the republic—Robert Kocharyan, and...not to bother me."
