A total of 5573 polling stations opened in Azerbaijan, where parliamentary elections are held.

Over 320 registered candidates refused to participate in the elections, as a result of which 1314 candidates continued to fight for seats in the parliament, the Caucasian Knot reported referring to the Central Election Commission.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on December 5, 2019 signed a decree on the dissolution of the Milli Majlis. Snap elections were scheduled for February 9, 2020.

Opposition representatives questioned the impartiality of the upcoming exit poll, and the election campaign was held with the restriction of political freedoms, Election Monitoring and Democracy Studies Center (EMDS) concluded. Parliament does not enjoy authority among the population, the upcoming elections are not credible, since their results are predictable, representatives of NGOs and voters said.

The voting will be monitored by 77,790 local and 883 international observers.
