There is no political context on renunciation of right to veto by Eurasian Union states, said Armenian Deputy PM Mher Grigoryan on Wednesday.

According to him, the question of whether the Eurasian Union member states can refuse the veto is discussed not from a political point of view, but in terms of increasing the efficiency of the commissions.

Asked to comment on the possibility of waiving the right to veto in some matters and transferring this right to a transnational organization, the Deputy PM noted that this issue has been discussed, and will be discussed more. 

“The problem is that in many cases any function of the commission becomes invalid, since one of the governments vetoes, and the decision simply does not work,” he noted.

As the Deputy PM saidб strategic issue on the agenda was whether the commission should have the power to either cancel the veto or exclude the right to the veto as a whole.  But there is no specifics in this matter so far, as "it is still at the strategic discussion stage,” he noted.
