DW reports that Japan’s Takeda Pharmaceuticals International has announced the development of a drug for patients infected with the new coronavirus.

The drug will be on the basis of a plasma. The effectiveness of such drugs has already been proven during treatment of acute respiratory diseases.

The Japanese company has joined other companies dealing with the development of drugs to treat the new COVID-19 coronavirus. Earlier, the US Gilead Sciences and Pfizer companies had also announced the development of a drug.

Based on the latest information, the coronavirus has taken the lives of 3,200,000 people, infected 93,600,000 (nearly 80,300,000 in China), and 51,000 patients have recovered.
