Within the scope of the Human Rights and Women in the Armed Forces of Armenia Project being implemented by the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, today the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia hosted theme-based discussions with His Honor of the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom Jeff Blackett.

As reported the Ministry of Defense, the first of the theme-based discussions was organized in partnership with the Center for Human Rights and Integrity at the Ministry of Defense and was devoted to effective investigation of disciplinary violations, proportionate punishment, etc.

The second discussion was devoted to the prevention of violence in the armed forces, particularly the identification of potential cases of violence against servicewomen and the introduction of effective mechanisms for response.

His Honor Blackett shared Great Britain’s practice and the institutions and mechanisms introduced for ensuring effectiveness of the investigations of and trials over disciplinary violations and military crimes in the armed forces of the United Kingdom and the prevention of sexual assaults against women.
