Security in the South Caucasus is a key issue for NATO, organization’s Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen told Azerbaijani APA news agency.

During his visit to U.S. Rasmussen called “frozen conflicts” a potential threat to security in the Caucasus. He noted that NATO allies, including U.S. and Russia are trying to establish peace and stability in the region.

“The only way to meet the threats, and to defeat them, is through the broadest possible cooperation between nations and organizations. We now have a great opportunity to build security not only in Europe, but across the entire Euro-Atlantic area, as well as Caucasus. The US can be a major driver behind that process too,” APA quotes Secretary General.
