YEREVAN. - According to Armenian Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs report, 120 children were adopted in Armenia in 2010.

61 children were adopted by foreign citizens and brought out of the country, 57 children were adopted by Armenian citizens living in Armenia. Two children were adopted by Armenian citizens living outside Armenia.  

Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs PR department chief officer Hasmik Khachatryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that Armenian citizens are given priority in the choice of adopters followed by non-Armenian citizens of Armenian descent. Only in most rare cases children may be given to adoption to non-Armenian citizens who are not of Armenian descent.
