Georgia can play a significant role in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution, President of European Parliament Jerzy Buzek stated in Tbilisi.

“Georgia is on good terms with both countries and it can play an important role in the settlement of this protracted conflict,” he told a joint press conference with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili on Thuersday, Trend News reports.

Buzek stressed that it is necessary to resolve “frozen conflicts” in the region. “The EU intends to play its role and contribute to resolution of these conflicts,” he noted.

The European Parliament does not consider Nagorno-Karabakh an independent entity and always speaks of territorial integrity of states, Jerzy Buzek said at a press conference in Yerevan on Wednesday. He stressed that it does not mean that needs of ordinary people living in this territory and their desire to communicate with citizens of foreign countries should be forgotten.

President of the European Parliament visited Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia within the framework of his regional visit.
