YEREVAN. – The Constitutional Court of Armenia should not be composed of judges who will be "beloved" by the authorities. Ruben Rubinyan, a member of the majority My Step faction, said this during the debates on the candidacies for judges of the Constitutional Court at Monday’s session of the National Assembly.

According to him, the Constitutional Court of Armenia shall be independent.

As per Rubinyan, the opposition is looking for an opportunity to speak out against these candidates because they do not follow the political views that are expected of them. "We [My Step] assess the judges’ candidacies by other criteria. We do not want the judges to be politically convenient and pleasant to us. We want the Constitutional Court to be truly independent," the representative of the ruling bloc assured.
