YEREVAN.- Armenian Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan signed lawmakers’ decision on declaring an amnesty on the occasion of 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence. Therefore, it will come into effect in 24 hours.

Sasun Mikaelyan and Nikol Pashinyan convicted in connection with the March 1 events will be released under an amnesty, Minister of Justice Hrayr Tovmasyan told journalists in parliament on Thursday.

“Amnesty is to create an atmosphere of tolerance and establish political dialogue,” Tovmasyan explained.
