Following the logics of Deauville statement Armenia should withdraw its troops from the territory of Azerbaijan - this is a peculiar and one-sided response of the Azerbaijani side to the statement issued by the presidents of OSCE Minsk group co-chairing states on Karabakh conflict.
Azerbaijani MFA is confident that this step is necessary “to open up the opportunities for internally displaced people to return to their houses, the communications to be restored in the region and more predictability to be created in the region,” Trend reported.
“The presidents of three countries refer on the documents and principles. They have been repeatedly discussed. The necessity of withdrawing the Armenian forces from Azerbaijani territories is raised in all of them. Consequently, the Armenian side must understand that the world community does not accept the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia,” the statement reads.
Azerbaijani MFA also stressed that Baku’s position remains unchanged.
“Withdrawing the Armenian armed forces and returning the internally displaced people to their houses will allow us to move to the next step to create favorable conditions for the coexistence of Armenian and Azerbaijani communities of Nagorno-Karabakh,” they say in a statement.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijani side is reluctant to accept calls of presidents to non-use of force although threats to use force are repeatedly voiced by official Baku.
