YEREVAN. - First Republic’s Day is a holiday of peculiar significance for the Armenian people, MP from Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun Lilit Galstyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, emphasizing the perception of statehood.

According to her, to make an adequate appraisal of Day of First Republic, one should recall history watersheds, when about 5-6 centuries Armenia was deprived of statehood. Following a long struggle, the Armenian people managed to gain a long-awaited independence on May 28, 1918.

“The Armenian people were able to achieve momentum proclaiming the first republic. Today the government should make efforts for this holiday to have a unifying significance in terms of forming national values. It is important for a state to have a society in Armenia and diaspora, united by values ​​of the Day of First Republic,” she said.
