YEREVAN. - Members of Dashnaktsutyun were perpetrators, that’s why under Pan-Armenian National Movement office the party was banned and many of its members were arrested, said Opposition ANC activist David Shahnazaryan, former head of Armenia’s National Security Council.

Shahnazaryan stressed that those of Dashnaktsutyun members, who were arrested for various crimes upon his orders, are still in custody, a fact that once again proves the rightfulness of his decisions.

“As for the head of ARDF Parliamentary group Vahan Hovhannisyan and other ARDF MPs, arrested at that time and released under Robert Kocharyan’s [presidency], the question should be addressed to [incumbent president] Serzh Sargsyan. These people were arrested upon his orders when he served as Minister of Interior and National Security. Let Hovhannisyan and his party discuss the legitimacy of Sargsyan’s decision,” said Shahnazaryan, adding that despite those developments ARDF joined the ruling coalition.
