Germany is synchronizing with the United States the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer noted, adding that she expects NATO to decide on this after a special meeting of the Alliance.

“We have always said we are going in together, and we are going out together,” Kramp-Karrenbauer told German public TV ARD. “I stand for an orderly withdrawal, and I expect us to decide this today (at NATO).”

According to her, it would also mean that Germany, as part of NATO, would synchronize its withdrawal plans with those of the United States, Reuters reported.

US President Joe Biden will announce today the full US military from Afghanistan by 9/11, according to senior officials in Washington.

NATO Foreign and Defense Ministers will discuss the issue this afternoon in a video meeting chaired by NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.

Germany, with about 1,000 troops, has the second-largest contingent in Afghanistan after the United States.
