The visit of Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the U.S. scheduled October 29 is postponed, Turkish CNNTurk reports. Turkish Zaman daily informs that the reason is coincidence of the visit day with anniversary of Republic’s Day in Turkey. As expected, the new visit date will be announced shortly.

U.S. President Barack Obama personally sent invitation to the Turkish Prime Minister to visit Washington. According to the source, Erdogan is expected to visit U.S. in November.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, Obama had a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul.

U.S. President Barack Obama intended to restate the necessity of Armenia-Turkey Protocols prompt ratification, signed October 10 in Zurich, a senior European diplomat told NEWS.am.

During the meeting with Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan on October 29, President Obama intended to voice the U.S. position: linking the ratification with other issues is fraught with a disruption of Armenia-Turkey normalization process, which is unacceptable. Moreover, if the voting in Turkish Parliament fails, Erdogan might be removed from the power, as Turkish President Abdullah Gul holds the view that the Protocols’ should be ratified in the near future without any preconditions, including those related to Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
