Defeatist policy of Armenian authorities enabled Turkey to interfere in South Caucasian issues, ARF Dashnaktsutyun Faction Secretary Artyusha Shahbazyan told at the Oct. 21 press conference.

According to him, Armenian side for a good while succeeded in preventing Turkey’s involvement in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution and being a mediator in South Caucasian developments. “Within a year Turkey became the main actor in Caucasian and Karabakh issues because of Armenia’s failing policy,” Shahbazyan noted adding that today Ankara talks up of these issues with Medvedev and Obama.

Currently Armenian authorities are drifting, hoping the waves will strand them, that is Turkey will not ratify the Protocols, Shahbazyan said. Even if Turkey ratifies the documents, the border opening will drag along unless there is an impetus in Karabakh peace process. “Turkey clearly says so and I have no ground for thinking otherwise,” Shahbazyan concluded.
