WASHINGTON, DC. - Congresswoman from Republican Party Jean Schmidt is acquitted of receiving a “gift” of $500 thousand dollars from Turkish Coalition of America. Earlier Schmidt was charged with getting $500 thousand, which she directed back to Ohio Republican Party funds.

“I’m glad that the matter is left behind. I always wanted to do the right thing and patience sometimes helps people,” said she.

Earlier Shmidt has been engaged in a long battle with a Democrat candidate for Congress from Ohio David Krikorian.

Krikorian accused Schmidt of obtaining "bloody money" from the Turkish lobby in return of denying the fact of Armenian Genocide.  In June 2010 Schmidt sued Krikorian in civil court, asking for a total of $6.8 million in damages.

In turn, Krikorian filed a complaint with ethics office of the Congress, accusing Schmidt of illegally receiving aid from the Turkish Coalition of America. Office revealed that $ 500 thousand were paid to Schmidt for reimbursement for attorneys.      

The office declared that Schmidt is responsible for paying the full $500,000 in legal fees as an unpaid debt.
