In 2021, the Ministry of Health of Armenia implemented 12 programs—with 53 events, although 56 events were planned. Minister of Finance Tigran Khachatryan said this during Tuesday’s debates on the execution of the 2021 state budget, at the joint meeting of the standing committees of the National Assembly.

As the minister noted, initially it was planned to allocate 114 billion 490.6 million drams from the state budget for the Ministry of Health, but then that number was revised and increased to 159 billion 191 million drams. According to the government representative, this increase was conditioned by the unpredictable situation created by the coronavirus pandemic.

"As a result, 157 billion 909 million drams were spent from the funds allocated in 2021. In fact, this is about 16 billion 131 million more than in 2020; that is, by 11.4 percent. In 2020, 141 billion 779 million drams were spent," Khachatryan said.
