By the fall of 2022 about a million Latvians could become insolvent, BB.lv reported, referring to new support measures initiated by the government.

In accordance with the objectives set by the Prime Minister of Latvia, the government has instructed to plan support for the group of people whose income does not exceed € 508.57 per household member, and who would be in insolvency without financial assistance. There are a total of 938,700 such people.

At the same time, the Latvian Ministry of Welfare has indicated in a recent report that in 2022 the income threshold for a poor household in Latvia will be €272 for the first or only household member and €190 for other household members.
