The exporting of medium-sized and high-tech processed goods from Armenia has increased from 10 percent to 25 percent. This was announced by Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan at Friday’s session of the National Assembly.

According to the minister, a few years ago, around 60 percent of exports from Armenia were mining raw materials—that is, basically, metal concentrates—, another 20 percent was primary consumption goods—that is, fresh fruits and vegetables—, another 10 percent are low processing, another 10 percent are medium-sized and high processing products.

"Now, the percentage of raw materials in exports has decreased from 60 to 45 percent, primary products—from 20 to 11 percent. At the same time, low-tech products have remained at approximately the same level—that is, a little more than 9 percent. At the same time, the share of medium-sized and high-tech products has reached from 10 to 25 percent," explained Kerobyan.

However, productivity generally remains low. In order to solve this problem and create competitive production, the Armenian government has decided to subsidize the purchase of modern equipment.
