The death toll in the November 9 earthquake in Turkey’s Van reached seventeen people, Hurriyet newspaper writes.

According to emergency situations department, thirty injured were removed from the debris.

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit Van province with the epicenter in the village of Artamed, 10 km from the city of Van. The quake was followed by 2.8-4.5 aftershocks.

Twenty-five buildings, including Bayram and Aslan hotels where journalists and employees of the Red Crescent Movement lived, were destroyed.

Earlier two citizens of Japan were removed from the debris of Bayram hotel. One of them died in hospital.
