The organizations which the Georgian Law on Foreign Influence Transparency applies to can submit applications to the relevant authorities starting from Thursday. The Minister of Justice of Georgia, Rati Bregadze, informed the reporters about it, answering the question of when the aforesaid law on "foreign agents" will come into force in the country.

Bregadze noted that all organizations subject to this law will be required to register as a "foreign influence" organization, SOVA reported.

"If the organization does not fulfill the requirements stipulated by the law; that is, it does not comply with the legislation of Georgia, the law provides an appropriate measure, providing a fine of 25,000 laris [approx. US$9,200]," he added.

According to the minister, as far as the respective procedures are concerned, those who comply with the requirements set by the law must only provide information about who they received from and for what purposes they spent those funds.
