Georgian-American relations will be reviewed as soon as mutual steps are taken, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told reporters Wednesday.

According to him, the Georgian side is currently in “standby mode” in this regard.

"We [i.e. Georgia] are fully ready to restore relations [with the US]," Kobakhidze added, reports Georgia-Online.

He added that in the last three to four years, a lot has gone wrong in these relations, so the latter need to be reset.

To the question whether the "friendly act" was a step in that direction, Kobakhidze responded that it cannot be called a countermeasure because the said document simply contains blackmail.

"We [i.e. Georgia] expect fair, pragmatic, and friendly steps. As for the sanctions, it is the tone that is counterproductive, and this cannot be considered a reciprocal step in any way. Instead of blackmail, we need to have a healthy conversation in order to improve relations, restore them," added the Georgian PM.
