Census has started in the mountainous regions of Georgia, informed Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT).

"The census is planned for the entire country from November 14 to December 19. But due to the possible deterioration of the weather in some mountainous and hard-to-reach areas, the census is being conducted out from September 19 to October 8," Todradze said on Imedi television.

As Todradze noted, this census is being conducted for the first time with the help of modern technology.

According to the head of GEOSTAT, this census will include not only Georgia citizens, but also foreigners, as well as stateless persons.

In addition to collecting information about people living in Georgia, this year’s census will include data on agricultural activities.

As Todradze noted, the first data will be publicized half a year after the end of the census; that is, in June 2025.

The census in Georgia is conducted every ten years. And according to the 2014 data, the country’s population is 3.7 million.
