Since the beginning of the year, the French intelligence services have prevented a total of six terrorist acts, the Paris Prefect of Police, Laurent Nunez, announced on LCI television.

"Since 2017, as far as I can remember, 52 terrorist acts have been prevented [in France]. And this year six terrorist acts have been prevented, three of which were directed against the [Paris] Olympic Games," Nunes said.

The Paris Prefect of Police, who previously headed France's internal intelligence service DGSI, added that the aforesaid statistics take into account only the cases that the antiterrorist prosecutor's office of France was able to qualify as a criminal conspiracy to commit a terrorist act.

Nunez emphasized that the terrorist threat remains high in France, and "the international situation is not improving the situation."
