Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on Wednesday met with Kaja Kallas, the new Vice-President of the European Union (EU) Commission and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, on the sidelines of the 31st Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Malta, the foreign ministry of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

First, Minister Mirzoyan congratulated Kaja Kallas on assuming the aforesaid office, and wished her success in the current period full of challenges.

Subsequently, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction the recent important achievements towards the deepening of the Armenia-EU partnership, the unprecedented dynamics of the development of relations, and expressed their readiness to continue active cooperation to advance the ambitious agenda.

Mirzoyan and Kallas reflected on the main components of the new agenda of Armenia-EU partnership. It was emphasized that as a result of joint efforts, Armenia-EU cooperation includes a wide range of domains of mutual interest, from people-to-people contacts, democratic reforms to dialogue on security issues. Among the respective tools used, the role of the EU monitoring mission in Armenia in ensuring stability on the border with Azerbaijan was highlighted.

They exchanged views on some other regional issues as well.

Also, Ararat Mirzoyan briefed Kaja Kallas in detail on Armenia's efforts to establish stable peace in the South Caucasus, including the expected signing of a treaty on the normalization of relations with Azerbaijan.

Regional economy and increasing interconnection through transport communications were also addressed.
