The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency deported more than 270,000 migrants in the fiscal year that ended on September 30, the ICE informed in a statement.
The ICE officers returned 271,484 migrants to 192 countries—nearly double the 142,580 in 2023.
In addition, 32.7 percent—i.e. 88,763 migrants—had a criminal record.
This deportation rate was the highest since fiscal year 2014, when nearly 316,000 migrants were deported from the United States.
