Armenia is ready to implement the action plan proposed by the European Union (EU)—in the context of visa liberalization talks—in the shortest possible time, Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan told a press conference Thursday.

According to her, the EU is expected to present an action plan to Armenia in the spring. This document is non-negotiable, and it covers many domains such as migration, asylum, and introduction of biometric passports. The EU partners will offer components, and if Armenia meets the requirements, the discussions will continue in a more favorable direction.

But Armenia did not wait and has already taken steps, added Sargsyan, citing biometric passports as an example.

"When can the liberalization of the visa regime be expected? This stems from the process, and no one can note the timeframe. But there is a will of the [Armenian] government to implement all the provisions of the [action] plan in the shortest possible time. This will not only provide citizens with mobility, but also an opportunity to introduce new standards in the domain of public security," said the minister of internal affairs of Armenia.
