The team of US-President elect Donald Trump has demanded the resignation of some high-ranking diplomats of the State Department, sources say, reports The Washington Post. These measures aim to show a decisive break with the administration of outgoing President Joe Biden.

Dozens of diplomats will resign Monday afternoon after receiving respective instructions from Trump's aides.

One of the diplomats who was asked to resign told The Washington Post. on condition of anonymity that Trump's team has approached the matter professionally. The diplomat said the incoming Trump administration wants to have in place people it has worked with in the past.

Trump's inauguration will take place Monday afternoon local time.
