The European Union (EU) must simultaneously completely give up Russian natural gas and reduce energy prices in Europe; these goals will be the main ones in the new energy plan that the European Commission will present in February. The president of the European Commission of the EU, Ursula von der Leyen, stated this in her remarks at the European Parliament session.

Energy prices in Europe are systematically higher than in the US and China. They also vary greatly in various EU countries. The latter need to reduce them while completing the process of phasing out Russian fuel. Both of these goals are important and they must achieve them, von der Leyen said.

Also, she stated that the EU should again considerably increase investments in green technology, including next generation green technology. The European Commission will set out these goals in its new energy plan to be announced in February.

Also, the European Commission chief called for working closely with the US on this matter, including buying more natural gas from this country.
