Denmark has agreed with EU leaders that the matter of Greenland will be on the agenda of an informal summit on Monday, announced by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, arriving at a community meeting in Brussels.

There is an agreement with all other countries that Greenland will also be discussed Monday, said Frederiksen, who wants to secure EU support in the matter. There is very strong and broad support in Europe for the need to respect borders, and this applies also to Denmark's borders, the country's PM stressed.

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that Greenland should join the US, but the Danish and Greenlandic authorities have rejected the idea. Greenland is an autonomous territory in Denmark.
