US President Donald Trump will have a phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the next 48 hours, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Monday.
At the Oval Office, President Trump said it would happen in the next day or two, Leavitt said.
Earlier, Trump said that contacts between the US and China could take place in the next 24 hours.
On February 1, the US president signed an executive order imposing tariffs on goods imported to the US from Canada, China, and Mexico.
