Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that the sustainability of Armenia will be possible if a situation is created when the country will be able to live in the environment of its neighbors without external assistance and interference. The premier said this during a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community in the United States.

According to Pashinyan, for quite a long time, the Armenian authorities have set themselves the task of ensuring the sustainability of Armenia.

“In my assessment, we will do this if we can create a situation where we will be able to live in our region, in the environment of our neighbors without external assistance. This does not mean that we should not have various alliances, cooperation with most various geopolitical centers. This is not about that, it is about the fact that we must set the task of having the opportunity to live in our region without external assistance and without external interference. That is why our perception is that we should perceive ourselves as the first factor in solving our problems.

When we have a problem in our region, usually our average statistical reaction is to turn here, turn there, turn to some extra-regional factor. This is not about someone else, this is about us. Moreover, it is understandable why we acted this way. But regardless of that, I believe we need to change our perspective and say that if we have a problem in our region, we should first perceive ourselves as the subject of solving that problem, and our first reaction should not be where is there a force that we can go, turn to so that this problem is solved,” Pashinyan said.
