International Criminal Court prosecutor Karim Khan has become the first person to face economic sanctions and a travel ban authorized by U.S. President Donald Trump against the war crimes tribunal over investigations of U.S. citizens or U.S. allies, Reuters reported, citing informed sources.

Khan, who is a British citizen, was named on Friday in an as yet unreleased annex to an executive order signed by Trump a day earlier, a senior ICC official and another source briefed by U.S. government officials told Reuters.

U.S. President Donald Trump earlier signed an executive order imposing sanctions against the International Criminal Court, accusing it of illegally prosecuting the U.S. and close allies, mainly Israel.

The document states that financial and visa sanctions are imposed against individuals who are involved in investigations against Americans or their allies, as well as their family members.
