President Donald Trump announced after a meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II that the US was going to acquire the Gaza Strip without paying for it, AP reports.

“We’re not going to buy anything. We’re going to have it,” Trump said of US control in Gaza, which, according to him, would be possible under US leadership.

The US president spoke Tuesday after meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah II, who was repeatedly asked by reporters about Trump's plan to rebuild the Middle East, but the Jordanian king did not comment on the idea that his country could accept large numbers of new refugees from Gaza.

Trump has repeatedly proposed the US take control of Gaza and turn it into “the Riviera of the Middle East,” with Palestinians in the war-torn territory pushed into neighboring nations—and with no right of return.
