Sargis Khandanyan, Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, met with Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) of Ukraine, in Kyiv, the NA informs.

During their private conversation, Stefanchuk, welcoming Khandanyan's visit to Ukraine, highlighted the development of parliamentary ties between the two countries, in particular, the importance of mutual visits by the friendship groups operating in the two legislatures.

On behalf of the NA of Armenia, Sargis Khandanyan expressed his support to the colleagues of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for their courageous activities in difficult conditions for their country, and stressed the importance of joint work on interparliamentary platforms. Also, he briefed the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament on the security challenges created around Armenia, the latter's foreign policy priorities, and the details of the Armenia-Azerbaijan and Armenia-Turkey negotiation processes. Reference was made also to the Crossroads of Peace project presented by the Armenian government.

Ruslan Stefanchuk, highlighting the strengthening of regional peace and stability, expressed his unconditional support for preserving Armenia's territorial integrity and the path of democratic development.

Sargis Khandanyan had left for Ukraine to participate in the work of the Bureau of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
