Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, met with the president of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, Lorenzo Fontana, the NA informs.

Simonyan noted that the protocol on cooperation signed by him and Fontana in Palma, Spain, in April last year was gradually entering its implementation phase, and one of the practical manifestations of which is the current visit of the delegation led by him to Rome.

In turn, Lorenzo Fontana emphasized that this visit is a good opportunity to discuss both the partnership relations between the two countries and parliaments, as well as matters related to Armenia's European integration.

Also, Fontana briefed Alen Simonyan on the resolution adopted by the Italian Senate Wednesday, which, in particular, obligates the Italian government to promote diplomatic actions aimed at the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, contributing to the establishment of lasting and stable peace in the region.

Simonyan, for his part, drew Lorenzo Fontana's attention to the matter of Armenians being held captive in Azerbaijan.

And at the end of their talk, the NA speaker invited his Italian colleague to Armenia.
